Communmity Mbongi Series:
HABPsi is committed to supporting the mental health of those of African decent as well as addressing issues supporting the empowerment of those in the Black
community. In an attempt to do so the Organization is hosting a series Community Mbongis to forge topics taht are relevant to the Community.
What’s an MBongi? It is a Bantu Kongo term that suggests a way of gathering together 1) the best minds, 2) taking responsibility for solving our problems, 3) exposing the truth of our reality, 4) critiquing that which concerns us dearly, and 5) correcting the core meaning of a people in service of human development.
“We wish to plead our case. Too long have others spoken for us. Too long has the public been deceived by misrepresentations in things which concern us dearly.” Excerpt from the inaugural issue of the first African American newspaper, Freedom’s Journal
